Hey guys,

I'm buying two new BKPs on Monday, and I was hoping you could give me your thoughts on my plans...

First, I want to buy a covered PK bridge to go with the TS and NB neck in my strat. I'm going to wire them so that every position is a humbucking combination of two coils.

Second, I'm thinking of getting an open MM bridge for my ESP Viper (a sort of SG clone), to go with a Sustainiac in the neck.

I was thinking about switching which guitar the PK and MM were going into, but I decided that since the Viper's bridge pickup is going to be its main pickup, the PK might be a bit too aggressive. I was thinking of a NB bridge for versatility, but I already have an LP with a NB set in it. Unfortunately, I'm not really into vintage pickups, and I prefer ceramic to alnico, so my options were a bit limited.

Do you guys think the MM has enough versatility to stand alone? Do you think the PK would go well in the strat?

Thanks in advance :)
-Liam

On the note of the MM's versatility it depends on what you are wanting to play on it,

I find it versatile enough to do any kind of metal and some rock/classic rock stuff with the volume rolled back.,

If it has to be ceramic, what about the Cold Sweat?  Not super-high output, but certainly not vintage and I'd think it's more versatile than the MM.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

That's a good point, man! The only thing that stopped me choosing a CS initially was the fact my friend is going to get one and we're trying to get as many different BKPs between us so we can trade and experience everything. I'm becoming more flexible on the ceramic thing... I think it's just a hold-over from when I was using Seymour Duncans and preferring their ceramics.

What do you guys think of the HD? I've been thinking that it might go well in the Viper. Now I'm tossing up between the CS and the HD...

Thanks :D

That'd make a lot of tonal sense, yeah, but unfortunately the Nailbomb isn't f-spaced :(

Not a huge issue really. It won't look pretty, but will probably sound the same.

Yeah, I know ;) I'm just anal like that, and I know that I'll inevitably be wanting to change it with an f-spaced one. I've learned to try to preempt myself
