Celestion V60s in Engl cabs
« on: July 04, 2008, 04:00:26 PM »
Just realised I posted this question in a different thread than the one I intended to I thought I'd ask on a new thread instead...

Does anyone know what the V60s actually are?

Yes, I know they are speakers, duh   What I mean is that I can't see them listed on Celestion's site.  Are Engl using a different name for an existing model (G12 Century Vintage perhaps?) or are they made especially for Engl?

Has anyone that has an Engl Standard cab opened it up & taken a look at these beasties?

Yes, I have owned an Engl standard cab. the V60's are one of Celestion's lower priced speakers. They are not made specifically for Engl, but are not easy to find if wanting to buy them separately (about £30 each, if I remember correctly).
Overall, I think they are pretty reasonable speakers. Similar in a way to the G12T-75's, in that they are slightly mid-scooped, but generally quite an easy-to-live-with speaker.   Nothing too special either though !

The correct model number is actually V12-60 by the way, although people often shorten it to V60. If you do a search, you'll find them available all over the place for about £40 each.

Thanks!  I don't want to buy any, was just curious about them - thinking about buying a Std cab & swapping 2 of the speakers out for Classic Lead 80s (my 2nd favourite speaker after the Vintage 30s).
