Does anyone else get 'invalid password' when they use the 2 boxes in the top right to log in?  I have no problem with the full login screen.

Also I miss the 'all topics read' once I come to the end of the new posts in an area.  The new web site takes you through the stickies too.

Sometimes that happens with me, denied then log in normally in the 'proper' login screen.

Also! It only logs me in automagically when i visit an actual forum. My bookmark is now set up for the main page of the forum, not signed in. But when i click on pickups for example i'm in. Strange, but i can live with it.

And balls to the ie6 users that made us have to go back to the jaggedy .gif logo format!

+1! Shouldnt they be using IE7 anyway? (or a proper browser)

does anybody else get this page sometimes when they try to log-in (EVERY TIME they come to the forum)

"Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /forum/index.php could not be found on this server.

Apache/1.3.37 Server at www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk Port 80"

I get that as well.

This is a really nit-picky idea, but the little "new" icons would look better if they were outside the actual forum box. For example- outside in the left margin, so that they all lined up straight instead of being all over the place with the text.

So:

- l    TOPIC blah blah (new)
- l    TOPIC (new)
- l    TOPIC blaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah (new)
- l    TOPIC Blah ------------------------------------------------------------------(new)
- l    TOPIC Blah de blah blah blah (new)

Would be:

(New)- l    TOPIC blah blah
(New)- l    TOPIC
(New)- l    TOPIC Blaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
(New)- l    TOPIC Blah ------------------------------------------------------------------
(New)- l    TOPIC Blah de blah blah blah

That would be better I think.

Mark the same thing happens to me, logs me in when I visit a forum but it wont on the main page/index thing.

Errr, some of us who work for a living have particular browsers inflicted upon us, and don't actually have a choice of what browser to use.

This is one of the reasons why web people have to learn to cope with all the browsers (and each one has it's own wierdness)

Having to use Win2K (dosn't cope with IE7)

Standard installs especially on audited machines (my work machine is scanned for software changes multiple times per day )

Inept IT support teams that cant cope with other browsers (yeah it's true to IT dept managers decree a particular browser)

Intranet and web based tools often depend on a particular browser being used (a previous employers software could only cope with early IE versions and Netscape up to about 2 years ago)

Of course some of us use a virtual installer to get around some of these restrictions.

Nobody ever does until it happens to them (too many bitter experiences in the past).

Hey Tom youre pretty handy with photoshop, how about getting a nice optimised .gif (or .jpg) logo knocked together (I'm great at suggesting that other people to do stuff)

Arent we all? :P I would try it but I have no idea what to do as I've never had to do anything for web, or anything really serious on photoshop, I usually just mess around with it and photoshop guitars to see how they'd look

And why, pray tell, are you complaining that you cant view BK forums at work ;)

(I'm at work right now too, but still, we should both be working!)

Who sir, me sir ?

TBH I spend so much of my day waiting for other people to report back to me, return calls or approve work I have to do, so I need to do something  inbetween times :? (honest)

Thinking about it I also need something to do when an end user (whom I seldom deal with in this job) is whittering on about some perceived fault.

Actually I'm finding the new incarnation of the board faster, and I can actually post messages from work.

On monday I will be bringing in a guitar and amp to work to keep myself entertained as I will be the only person in (sort of a compulsary holiday on sunny NI)

the other forum i regularly visit with similar software doesnt have this issue  (SMF v1.1.4 rather than 1.1.5)

The problem that I had was that I was unable to post about 90% of the time.

I'd post and I would get a preview instead, a slight work around was to quote then the posting only failed 80% of the time, but I know that it was a proxy issue.

So far so good (though I just got that forced logout business for the 1st time

First question is (and i know i am probably a stupid git for asking), what is the quick reply feature and has it been taken away?

And second is (this is getting really nitpicky), in the old forum layout if you entered a particular forum - say for instance, in this case, "Time Out" - the actual expanse of the topic layout was much wider (horizontally) and it also accounted for far more topics vertically.  The actual number of topics one could review on one page was much greater, which lent itself to a less claustrophobic layout.  Right now i feel like everything is too boxed in, and everything upon EVERYthing (in terms of topic titles) is in bold which doesn't help matters for a claustrophobic layout.  If the horizontal layout was just widened even by a couple centimeters i think it would help matters.  I don't know if anybody else finds it irritating that they cannot scroll down the page and find as many topics per page as they used to, but i find it a little irritating, especially if i have to got to the next page of topics for some reason when before i didn't have to.  For forums such as the "Guitars, Amps, and Effects" forum, there tend to be many new topics every day, especially if one only tends to check in once a day, or every other day even.  For members that are not as addicted as others (i may vouch for myself that i am an addicted member - but i don't always come on multiple times a day), it might be troublesome to know if there more topics new than that first page can specifically fit.  Now, some people might like fewer topics on one page, so i suggest that forum members can choose how many topics they want to fit per page (20, 25, 30, 35, 40, etc.).  I don't know if anybody else would like this, but again this is just nitpicking.  Thanks for all the changes you have made already Ol!

More nitpicking:

Didn't there used to be a sticky explaining how to get approved for posting in Seconds Out?  I can't find it anywhere.
