What Pickups to get?
« on: September 12, 2005, 09:07:22 PM »
Hi,
Im putting together a floyd rose 2 humbucker strat, kind of a home project.
Unfinished Alder body with a maple fretboard.
I would like some BK's i have not tried before,so it rules out Nailbomb,Cold Sweat,Mule and Crawler.

I was thinking maybe Miracle Man or Emerald.
Any one have a similiar guitar? And what did you go for?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers,Steve.

ooo, that would be cool!
The VHII is a very raw, dynamic pickup. I love it!!

Alder and maple are going to produce a very bright and hard edge to whatever you put in it. A Miracle Man would be serious silly grin virtually plays itself type vibe, a Warpig even more so.The VHII would be a nice lower output approach, I played Danny Gill's unlaquered Strat with a VHII set in and loved it.
It really depends what you're wanting to do with it Steve..........rock or relax
An Abraxas is Mule on steroids...............could be just the thing!

I love the look and feel of a maple neck and have always liked the tone of alder bodied strats, but i am looking for a warm, rounded tone that can handle high gain and not get shrill.

Hmmm, you need some beef my boy
The Abraxas would certainly be a good one, also the Crawler but you've got that............you know a Warpig would be a good one.Serious power, plenty of balls, great cleans and effortless to play.

On lower gain they have the Sabbath thing going. On a lower gain setting you'll have a sound that was considdered to be high gain in the early '70's. They'll do a great Ram Jam.

You know this sort of thread is so much easier to answer on other forums...

"Bareknuckle pickups, easily better than what you're thinking of, just e-mail them!"
