Tuner recommendations

Hi folks.

My MIM tele is never in tune, and the tuners are to blame. Been pro set up, nut is fine so not that, plus the tuners are pretty inaccurate anyway, like the b string takes about half a turn to noticably change pitch, while others are on a hair trigger. I digress.

basically I'm after something cheap and reliable, preferably with a reliable tuning ratio. Not massively desperate for locking tuners, but if they are cheap and easy to instal all the better. I'm interested in the split shaft vitnage jobbies, look neat and tidy. ALSO! would be nice if they fit the current headstock without bushings or anything like that, think the mim tele has 10mm holes, i'm happily corrected on that though.

If budget allows, you could get some TonePros Klusons - the TPKF6B set is vintage-style but with screw-in bushings to fit 10mm-drilled headstocks.  I believe Feline stocks them:

Failing that, you won't be able to use regular vintage-style tuners unless you (a) dowel the 10mm holes and re-drill them smaller or (b) get some of these conversion bushings:

Thanks Philly, i'll have a think and read up about the Klusons. Actually been looking at the Wilkonson parts over at axesrus, cheap and a drop in solution. I have no qualms about drilling into the headstock for the machine head screws, done it before without accident for string trees.

Anyone used these? As much as i'd like to try the split shaft option it's just a thought, i'd take an easy reliable normal tuner over a tricker vintage unit.

Wilkinsons are about the only brand of tuner I haven't tried.  I hear they're decent quality though.

I know Twinfan has a set of the "locking" ones for his Squier, not sure if he's fitted them yet though.
