The 5 Most Desired Pedals.
« on: July 10, 2008, 09:04:51 PM »
Use any criteria you like. No restrictions on price, size, options, etc. Which do you believe to be the most desired pedals for what ever reasoning? But please do list your reasoning.

Thanks!

Klon Centaur because it costs a hell of a lot of money (and sounds awesome)
Vintage TS808 because it's the original
Original MXR phase90 because of EVH

They're the three which I can think of as being mentioned far too much.
My own most wanted would be very different.

EDIT: Forgot the Fuzzface and Cry Baby. Duh!

Original Ibanez TS808 - because it's what all my heros used
Old late 60s VOX wah - because it sounds right
TC Electronic  chorus/flanger  pedal - because it was just the best for what it does
ADA Flanger - because I want to make "Aint Talking Bout Love sound perfect
Marshall Guvnor (original one ) - because Gary Moore made Still got the blues

Hey woww!! Do you stock those?

I don't really use pedals much (not counting that my "amp" setup is a pedal nowadays, a VOX Tonelab LE or a Line6 PODXTLive). But I did used to use, and still have, the following in most of the gigs I did:

Marshall Guvnor (the original one!  :D)
Cry Baby (not sure who it's made by, all the labels have worn/fallen off, bought it new circa '82)

They went straight in the front of a 50W single channel M/V combo, and I could do anything I wanted with that little lot!

If we're talking about modern day pedals still in production, the waiting lists would suggest these:

1. Analogman King of Tone v4
2. Analogman Bi-Comprossor
3. Klon Centaur
4. Landgraff ODs
5. BJFE Pine Green Compressor

I've owned (2) and was pretty dissappointed. I now have (5) and love it. There's no way in hell I'd pay $900 for a Klon though!!!

1 Fulltone OCD - 100% bypass, no noise. Built like a tank
2 Keeley Blues Driver - takes the Boss Blues Driver and revs it to the clouds
3 Blackstar HT Dist - classic distortion and 100% valve driven
4 Vox Satchurator - brand new pedal for classic Satriani tones and boost
5 Fulltone Fat Boost - beautiful clean boost without colouring tone. 100% true bypass. Built like a tank

IMHO Fulltone pedals are the best on the planet.

Certainly among them, no question about it. I used to own a Fat Boost and Full-Drive 2. Great stuff.

thundertomate phil hilborne treble booster - twilight recommended it, and i like the treble booster setting on my tonelab, and i like iommi's treble booster tone.

korg pitch black - looks like a cool tuner

maxon tube screamer - whichever the one is with true bypass, i'll mod then it to old skool specs

tech21 sansamp character british - i use the gt2 and like it, but am fussier these days and want a better marshall tone

tech21 midi mouse or similar - midi patch change stomp box for tonelab when its fixed

edit: have just ordered the phil hilborne, so we'll see what its like when it arrives.

Boss TU-2, happy little tuner
Rat, for low, thick overdrive
Vintage spec big muff, for mental, THICKER scuzz.
Analogue delay, under 300ms delay, perfect
Hi gain distortion, based on a soldano slo 100 amp, pure meat.

I has 4 of them, the slo kit is on its way to me. i don't like effects that much.
Mississippi Queens, Holydiver.

I had a Dice Works 'Muff Diver' delivered today.  I've been having great fun with it for the past few hours, it's spot on for the vintage muff thing.

Top five desirable though, a combination of expensive old things and newer things I'd like to own:

1) original univibe
2) 60's Clyde McCoy wah
3) 60's germanium Fuzz Face
4) WH-1 Whammy
5) Barber Tone Press

2. Maxon Phase Tone PT-999
3. EHX 16 second delay
4. TC Electronic chorus flange
5. Digitech Whammy (mark 1 original)

the price of these things are a lot when combined!

I have most of my favourites already so these are only extras.

I'm really not very knowledgeable about pedals, when I buy them at all they tend to be impulse buys because I read a glowing review, or they were at bargain prices, or I just liked the "look" of them.  But I would like to try or get hold of:

Korg Pitchblack tuner
Visual Sound Angry Fuzz
Some kind of Uni-vibe (for Robin Trower sounds!)
Some of those old Lovetone pedals (are they still around?)
MXR Phase 90 (because I can't think of anything else  )
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM
