On the back of the Snake oil thread can somebody please explain the difference in string types...
Chromes
Steels
Nickel wound (what I have bought for the last 10 years)
Pure Nickle
Is this just the winding material on the lower strings?
How do they sound different?

I have spent many hours talking to Dean about strings so I know that he has done probably the most research of anyone on the subject. You may want to take a look at the other articles, as it really will open your eyes up about the effect strings have on your tone.

I use the blue steel one's, I've found them better for lead guitar stuff! they are definitley brighter, not to everyones taste though. Flatwound one's are horrid :lol:
