Indy's Ultimate guitar
« on: July 16, 2008, 11:17:42 AM »
I always thought it was pretty much impossible that any manufacturer built a guitar just for me, but if I could have a guitar built to my exact specs, this would be it:

One day I will own this guitar.
http://www.fanoguitars.com/altdefactoSP6.html

All I've got to do now is choose what woods I want it to be made from. (and raise a lot of money!)

Anyone else found their perfect ideal guitar, not from a custom manufacturer?

Yep!  Korina solid body, double cutaway, twin humbuckers, wrapover bridge?

That'll be my PRS McCarty Korinas  :D

Yes & it's almost entirely down to BKP :)

My perfect ideal guitar is either a Jackson KV2 or an RR1

OK, I guess Jackson are known as a custom manufacturer but these are "standard" spec models.  Yes, I can choose two guitars because if I was forced to own only one guitar, I'd be equally happy with either model.

Why/how is it BKP's fault?  I always preferred mahogany instruments until the Holy Diver brought me back to alder/maple.  It's the perfect marriage for me  :)
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

If you want something that's half way between a Tele and a Les Paul with a Bigsby, get a Gretsch Duo Jet. And because they're hollow, they won't give you a hernia either.

I think Dennis Fanos guitars are excellent looking, but I wish he was doing some of the models he was producing a couple of years ago

I fell in love with the Tonestar model http://www.rockitoldschool.com/indexinst.html though I apologise that it shows a member of Barenaked Ladies

I'm not sure if I've ever seen my ultimate guitar as such, but this is my favourite from the Fano site - and there's very little I'd want to change about it. :)

It reminds me of one of those First Act models - but presumably much higher spec'd.

Oooh I must have overlooked that Pelham Blue one! ^

That's a very close 2nd to the white one above. They are gorgeous looking guitars.

Personally i think they are fugly

That was exactly my first reaction
But then as more and more got posted, they started to grow on me, and I realised it was because they are slightly, well, "ugly"

That's the point. If you want a "beautiful" guitar buy a quilt-top high gloss PRS and look like a massive knob :P
