What exactly can they do? Can they get rid of the buzz from annoying singlecoils? you know when yu put waaaay too much gain in front of an already overdriven amp, and yu get majorly-emphasised pick-noise, and scr@ping, aswell as buzzing and howling feedback, can they get rid of that? If i have the completely wrong idea of a noise suppressors job, please tell me. Also, what is the built-in noise reduction circuit on the hotplate like? what noise does it reduce? thanks

A noise supressor (aka noise gate) can be set to cut out the annoying hum you occaisionally pick up. Like when you sit infront of the monitor or TV with high gain?...

What you do is set the lowest volume to let noise through at, and how quick it should go silent after you stop playing and you are sorted. of course the noise is still there when you play, but you drown it out.
"What frequency are you getting? Is it noise or sweet, sweet music?"

They're not always great - they're useful when the noise is a problem, but I've not found one that doesn't kill the tone, apart from the Hotplate.

Play aster so there's no gaps...works for Malmsteen and he plays a strat!

hehe, i guess i'll just have to shred   . i should be getting a hotplate soon. i'm actually rather looking forward to it since i've never tried one before, since all my friends have SS amps, and therefore none of them own a hotplate. my guitar teacher might...
