New Guitar Day - BC Rich WMD Warbeast

well... after looking to get a CHEAP metal shape pointy guitar, everyone ummed and ahhhd about the cheap BC Rich stuff so my choice got more and more pricey. anyway.. im glad i got the one i did cos im loving it. just need to restring it so i can detune it.

the neck is lovely although im not used to no dot markers yet. not including my holy diver, the pickups are a lot better than the ones on any of my other guitars. the rockfield 'fat ass' bridge (alnico5) i think is quite similar to the holy diver from what i can tell so far. a little less brash with a bit more top end 'fizz'. the rockfield 'mafia' neck (ceramic) i have no real comparison for but i like it. its very sabbath/stoner sounding to me. i suppose its what ive heard refered to as a 'dark' pickup. the high mids are  subdued (is this what we call 'scooped'?) but each note rings clear when distorted. im thinking the pickups are close to the holy diver and what i expect a miracle man to be like. I'm thinking id like them to be even higher output though.

im thinking this guitar is crying out for a couple of black covered warpigs. :P A Warpig loaded Warbeast sounds pretty cool to me.  PDT_045

Looks evil dude!!
I've had a BC Rich Warlock (korean) much time ago, was my first floyd rose guitar... it was so cheap that I have floyds even today and believe it won't end...

Hope yours is better, look at the block of the floyd if it's something like Pig Iron/Iron Gusa I would say to change it, a good floyd is always necessary... As this guitar looks neck-thru should be a better stuff than mine, was that "bronze series"

Sorry for the bad feeling about BC Rich :(

I've always liked the Warlock shape, never got round to trying one though and people say B.C. Rich is a bit dodgey in the quality department, but as long as it plays good, sounds good and you're happy with it who cares what other people say! :D

i played one of the cheaper £200 bc rich guitars and it was a bit lacking to be honest but i really liked one of the more expensive ones in the same price bracket as this one in a local shop. i decided to take a chance on it because id read some really good things about this model. if this one was as good as the one in the shop i was gonna be happy so it turned out well.
i cant fault the build or workmanship. the neck is as good as my fender strat. its got lovely sustain. the frets are nice and polished (not like the cheaper one i played.. they were like sandpaper!) the ebony fretboard is lush too. looks really nice in the flesh. its my first ever floyd rose so the quality seems very good to my eyes (i thought all floyd rose were the same thing!?). the neck through is shaped really nice (pic later. batterys flat in cam at mo). the only thing i can fault so far is that the balance is slightly too heavy in the neck, but this is nothing major. i can play it sat down ok too :D

the evh guitar in the background is one i built from bits. the body i bought off ebay it was already painted but the finish was lumpy so i sanded it down and hit the rubbish bits with relic-ing it a bit. it plays nicely and im not bothered that is not a painstaking copy. its just nice to have a guitar spare to tune down 1/2 step so i can play along with different stuff without having to tune all the time. my fender i use tuned 'proper'. my frankenstrat down 1/2. my olp down a whole. and my warbeast will be drop c. (will do that tomorrow).

ill do some more pics when camera battery is charged properly.
