« on: August 09, 2008, 06:26:10 PM »
Has anyone done this? I can't find any shorts I want but loads of trousers look good!

Cheers

I did it with some ripped jeans.  Cut them WAY too short.  Was one moustache away from joining a Villiage People tribute band...

Never again.

I also did this, for a combat-themed pub crawl though :P

As far as cutting trousers into shorts goes - I'm planning on converting my favourite trousers which have unfortunately now become too short (how!?). I'll report on how it goes.

(i'd have thought) the problem with cutting them is that you don't have a good hem... they're liable to just unravel if you cut them. you're probably going to have to do some sewing etc. etc. (plus there's no guarantee it'll be any good when you finish). I'd just look harder for shorts to be honest (or put up with trousers).

I think that's the idea, Dave.

By the end of the summer they should be frayed and old-looking and with sensible wear they should last a fair few years so long as you cut them at 3/4 length.

I once had a pair of jeans with a hole in the leg which developed to a pair of shorts. It looked quite good until I grew to the point that in order to button them up I would have had to re-do the hem (plus they were flagging at beyond half-mast).
I too use chicken as a measurement.
