I will say it is a good film but it drags on and on and just isnt half as good as the original with nicholson in my opinion.

I almost found myself falling asleep at points watching the dark knight in the cinema yesterday.

I loved dark knight, I'm not such a big fan of the original though, feels like too much of a tim burton film and I'm not really into his sorta stuff.

Although I will admit dark knight was quite long, but I wouldn't put that down as a reason to dislike it imo.

  • Still awaiting the release of Uncle Meat.
I haven't seen it but I can't really see how one would make any sort of improvement upon the Tim Burton films as Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson were totally fantastic (Whereas I've only seen bad films with Heath Ledger in, like '10 Things I Hate About You' and 'Brokeback Mountain', which, as far as I could tell, was a film about two shepherds (yes SHEPHERDS, not cowboys) refusing to talk to each other.).

I see them as a departure from anything else Tim Burton has done so I don't see where you are coming from.

Oh; and does anyone else think the new Batmobile looks like it's made of origami paper?

i like the tim burton ones and i like the new ones, not too worried about comparing them as they are very different animals.

TDK was a bit long, but i cant really think of anything i would want to take out of it

This was my chain of thoughts before I went to see The Dark Knight.

It took about 40 mins or so before I stopped comparing Heath Ledgers Joker to Jack Nicholsons version and just sat down to enjoy the film. Both actors take completely different sides of the character; Jack Nicholsons was the more comedic side of it with the practical jokes, whereas Heath Ledgers was much more of a genuine psychopath and played more seriously (this is all imo of course).

This is the 1st and only film I've seen Heath Ledger in where I like the way he acts. It's a shame he didn't do more stuff like this while he was still alive as I think for a guy who seemed out of his acting comfort zone, he made a really good job of the character.

I really liked the Burton ones.  They seemed like a really pure interpretation of the older comics and graphic novels.  Definietly "Burton-esq", but that's no bad thing - a lot of humor in there.

And I also really liked the last two.

I don't remember the 1st one (but i'm not much of a film person- got dragged along to TDK), but i didn't really like TDK; it did drag on a bit for me, and there wasn't much that gripped me (Ledgers performance was quite good though, probably the highlight for me). And all the tacky one-liners!! That's something that I really don't like, putting in a gag just for the hell of it. And there was no title sequence/theme tune! As I said, i'm not a film person, so make what you will of my observations :p

Burton directed two Batman films (Batman and Batman Returns), Nicholson is only in the first one (as far as I remember). The first one is definately worth getting. The second one is pretty good too, but not as good IMHO.

I think the second one - with Danny Devito as the Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman - is even better than the first.  For me, Nicholson gets to do a bit too much grandstanding in the first one (but then I'm not his biggest fan!).

Any film with Michelle Pfeiffer in a cat suit is better than any film without Michelle Pfeiffer in a cat suit...
:D

EDIT: Was Danny Devito in that one? I'd completely forgotten, must have been distracted by something...

I'm not sure that's 100% true - or even 50% true.  But nevertheless, intuitively it seems a pretty sound principle.

Thinks: Should I mention the Halle Berry Catwoman film at this point?  Hmmm, I already have....   :?
