Comfortably Numb- Riff Raff

One more try with the Toneport UX1. This time I used the bridge Riff Raff and some serious tweaking to try to get close to Gilmour's tone. Anyone with suggestions, feedback is welcome! :D

Ironically, because your own version is made with no effects / less effects ( so we can hear the pickups better ) - I can imagine that the same rendition / quality of playing would sound even more 'Gilmourish' with added flange, rotary speaker simulation and perhaps a pinch of delay e.t.c. 

That is not to say that your version lacks anything, because it certainly does not ! - just that to mimic Dave Gilmour's version of this excellent track,  often means  throwing  the entire effects rack at it .   :)

Very true! I was actually trying to get rather close to his tone on this one. That is perhaps my favorite tone ever. But, after this post I think I might go back and try to tweak/add a few more things to get it closer.
Gilmour certainly uses a massive amount of effects- it makes it a lot of fun trying to get close! :lol:

Oh man, I used a Toneport UX-1 so there was quite a bit involved. I used the Soldano head model with the drive at about 8, 1978 Celestion 4x12 cab. In my effects chain I used the Tubescreamer to push the amp, drive at 60% and gain at 50%. Digital delay, reverb, compression, and noise gate were also used.
I actually had the volume on my guitar turned down to around 8. About halfway through I bumped the knob up, actually thinking that it was already at 10. Thus the volume increase.  :?
If you are using a Toneport and want all the settings just let me know, I will be happy to oblige.

So I have a distortion and a delay and a sonic stomp would you recommend compression and a noise gate what is the difference between those two effects?? I was thinking about getting some kind of compression to tighten up my sound, and a reverb to give me more presence. I recommend the BBE stomp sonic that one rules. Anyway Tell me about those two pedals. I play through a Orange TT.

A noise gate will cut off the sound when it's below a certain threshold

A compressor will even out the sound, basically boosting quiet sounds.
