Packing amps
« on: August 24, 2008, 01:21:36 PM »
Sold my Laney and was wondering what the cheapest way of safely packaging it would be?

Does £21.99 postage seem right from south west england to high wycombe also?

Cheers

Sounds about right, I would have thought they would charge more for Wycombe as its such an arsehole place to drive around.

Congrats on finally selling :P

Well, certainly remove the valves, wrap them in some bubble wrap, and put them in the back of the amp and make sure they can't move around. Wrap the whole amp in some bubble wrap, and whack it into a box of appropriate size. When the guy shipped me my JCM900 a while ago, he used so much bubble wrap that, when laid out on the floor, was over 3m long! It was certainly well wrapped up, got here safely :)

, you should ask woogie about how big a box needs to be for a guitar neck... apparently not quite big enough!!  i thoroughly approve of overpacking though, why not  chuck an extra wrap of bubbles around it if you can
