Here's a question for the technically knowledgable.
On my BKP equipped Ibanez RG's I've fitted a couple of extra pots so that each pup has its own tone and volume controls and I've replaced the 5 way pup selecter switch with a 3 way output selecter switch, so the guitars are wired pretty much as per a Les Paul.
What I've noticed on both guitars is that when both pups are selected together, there is a slight but noticable drop in volume compared to either pup being selected individually, as though together they are cancelling each other out to some degree, and when either of the volume knobs are turned right down with both pups selected, at the very end of the pots travel, both pups cut out ( though in practice this doesn't matter because there's no reason to have one volume turned right down anyway)
So my question is : Would putting diodes of the appropriate type and value , between the output terminals of the volume pots and the 3 way output switch, cancel out the effect the pups have on each other because they would only let the signal from the pups go in one direction (out), or would it make no difference at all ?
