Bare Knuckles Pickups : which one to .....
« on: April 18, 2005, 10:08:15 PM »
Hails Guys!!
This Is My first time on the forum and iīm saying hi to you all... together with some questions about BK Pickups.
my name is J.P, iīm from Brazil, 25 years old and play guitar for 9 years now
my favorite Musicla styles are : Black/Death/Thrash/Fusion Metal... i like a little of heavy metal, BACH, darkwave music, folk and doom metal too. Blues, fusion jazz and Brazilian MPB thatīs it

My questions ARE :
which one of those BK pickups do you think will give me this tone :
1 - Solid and tight Bass with Palm mute and articulation like RIFFS.
2 - Crunchy and sweet Lots of Mids
3 - Sweet and Warm Highs.
4 - Moderated to High Output .

In the bridge position, and in the neck too.
Ash Body, Maple Neck, rosewood fingerboard. floyd rose icensed bridge.

i donīt have an amp yet, but i plan to buy a 5150 Head, or(if i win a lotery) Framus cobra . HAHAHAHA

Hails
and thankīs in Advance
J.P

You could go with almost anything from the range, even the Mule kicks ass with a bit of gain! They can do anything if you put the effort in with your hands.

I'd think about a Nailbomb, Miracle Man, or a Warpig. The Miracle Man gives the most solid tight bass with lots of low mid chunk. All three of these are very capable pickups, and the extra volume means you don't have to work as hard!

Hails Man
Thankīs for the answer
well...
letīs filter the choice :
i donīt want a bassy pickup NOR a one that only have Bass/middles and not quality of not enough Highs.
Said that ... i guess it gets a little easy to choose and get advice from which one of the three should fit well on that guitar
Ah.. i forget that i will use the guitar tuned in D. any problems with low tunings?

some kind of Desirable eq : Bass 4,5. Middles 8 , Highs 9.
Hails
J.P

I think possibly a Nailbomb, not too bright, but it's alnico so not harsh treble. The Alnico V really helps produce a great complex mid range. Scatterwinding brings out the harmonics. The bass isn't as tight and focused as a miracle man with it's ceramic magnet, but it is well balanced.
