That SG is pretty sweet, but like I say, depends on what he means by metal. You'll struggle to play Hangar 18 on it.

Will you?  With the right amp/pedals you'll have no bother at all.

How are amps and pedals going to effect neck profile, upper fret access and number of frets?  :?

You're right, you could play what ever you want on a 21 fret tele provided you aren't interested in playing it exactly as recorded in all parts. However, if you are........ or if you're reliant on tab......

^ The above statement is factual and therefore I find it amusing.

Also, SGs should all have 24 frets. There's no excuse. I love SGs but that huge gap between the fretboard and neck pickup is the third biggest design flaw in the history of guitarmaking. (only surpassed by the shape of a telecaster and the singlecoil pickup)

That Washburn looks AMAZING.

If it plays as well as it looks and it really costs £200, I might even buy one.

Edit: List Price: $1,329.90 :|

The biggest problem with a £200 budget is that even though a playable guitar can be had for that amount, the pickups will be total rot unless they've already been upgraded.

Going for a 2nd hand guitar is a plus point at this price since it's most likely had a setup, maybe even a fret-stoning to get it playing right.  Also, in the case of the SG there are a pair of awesome pickups in the guitar.

If he could walk out the door with that Warpig'd SG for £275 he would have an amazing platform for the majority of metal.  Surely he can beg/borrow an extra £75.00 ???

Exactly my point Mr Hell  :)

However if you HAVE to have 24 frets, then it's not good enough  :(

Has anyone ever actually been up to the 24th fret before other than to see how damn high it is?

I don't imagine it's a note that needs to be used very often (ever), and even if it is why not just bend up to it?

Ah, but what if you need to bend up from the E at the 24th fret to a high F# ?  Could be crucial.
