Didn't you all know that if you like Led Zeppelin you are inclined to be interested in the occult?!! PDT_008

Ah, we all know Stairway to Heaven is about Mornington Crescent... :)

HEY!

ISIAC is not the occult!! It might have a cult following, but the two are very different!

Roo

Well, if you're going to perform a Reverse Canterbury Pleasure, then, according to the Nash convention, you will need to sacrifice Seven Sisters... :)

Watch out, then - I'm into the second half of my 24h shift, and these posts are going to become increasingly strange :)

Yes, but only by coincidence... :)
[Do you watch QI, or are you a bell ringer? :)]

Oh, it's QI... I do watch that, if I happen to stumble on it or remember it's on.  Don't watch much TV nowadays.

Incidentally, I'm still up. Not been to bed since a really poor nights' sleep on Friday before my experiment started. Today I have been mostly travelling back from Grenoble :(

At least for Thursday's 24 hour shift, I can drive there and drive home afterwards (about 20 minutes!) rather than having to get on trains, wait at stations, worry about taking samples through customs etc etc.

The original reference to Mornington Crescent in this thread was itself a reference to I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue (the antidote to panel games), chaired by the late great Humphrey Lyttleton. I've been an avid follower of that radio show for the last 13 or 14 years (and it's been running for many, many more!!).

Particularly pertinent quote from it: "As the Pope says to young mothers: Get some rhythm!" :)

No, it's starting to fall into place!  :D

I'm not a regular listener, but I should have got that.  But when you said:

(as opposed to ISIHAC) I thought you were talking about the worship of Isis or something!  And then I got very lost...

Hmmm and that was only half way through my shift... in fact, that was about 24 hours ago from now! Bloody hell :(

Sorry for all the confusion. I'll go to bed just as soon as my bus gets back to Oxford!

It sounds scary doing 24 hour shifts... doesn't involve any risk of physical injury does it?

Oh, and the reason for the Qi reference was that I (somewhat cheekily) threw in a bell-ringing term (Reverse Canterbury Pleasure). It just sounded so much like a Mornington Crescent move when I heard it mentioned on QI.  (sorry)

If you count exposure to extremely high energy X-rays, yes. But the chances of that are so slim anyway (for once I'm in favour of the extreme H&S interventions! What you DON'T want at 4 in the morning is to get stuck in the hutch when the shutter opens!).
At least there will be 3 other people on Thursday's trip. Might even get some sleep, woo!
Yay for sleep!
