Haha, I thought it was Mr Lee for a sec then noticed the stripes and fretboard

did i type 'splat' somewhere? :)  i usually do when trying to type 'spalt'.

you mean we have to wait till february to see the conklin!!!  not playing fair ;)

Haha, no, Chris on here corrected me when I first learn what a spalt was I thought it was called a splat haha.

Well, yes and no, here it is now:

But eventually, minus the gold hardware, single coil and volume knob + piezo 3 way switch + BKs + will be something like this:

I have a sort-of-custom on the way. But I'm not telling what it is. When I get it, I'll tell folks, with photies. Not even any of my pals know, or in fact my missus - though she knows how much it costs  :P

I'm excited though. I have been waiting on a different custom guitar - a V - for a good two and a half years that a friend was making, a fine luthier, until his full time business got too busy for him to carry on building guitars, I'd bought all the timber and hardware by that point though, which is a nuisance, spoken to Jonathan about building it but I've never managed to get the timber and parts back from him - now I can't get in touch with him at all which is getting to be rather frustrating to say the least.

However, come spring I'm sure I'll be cheerful regardless  :D

What happened with the padauk one wez
erm, i forgot about it. :) last time a saw it a few more coats of black were needed.  Nath must still have it

Wez - Do a fanned fret 8 string with a curved and figured top. You know you want too :P

If i do an 8 (which i am going to) it will definately be FF/multiscale.  carved top dinky style shape aint a bad idea.. i kind of weant a smaller super strat shape so either dinky's or N4's spring to mind

Interesting, not sure how well it would work though, 8 string necks are pretty much like 6 string bass necks, dunno how well it would work on a dinky body, surely super neck heavy?

I would go for a Strat body, personally.

(sorry I couldn't resist  )

i would widen the body a bit and maybe extend the upper horn.   if I can get the strap button close to the 12th fret it will balance just fine... believe me - it does not have to be neck heavy
