Which Audio Interface?
« on: September 12, 2008, 12:10:20 AM »
Hi everyone. I want to start recording my guitar sounds onto a computer, so I was sondering if anyone could give me some advice on which audio interface I should buy, or what you're currently using. I'm looking for something at £100 - 150, and it would have to send over USB rather than firewire since that's all my laptop has. The other thing is that I'm running Vista so I'd like to know which devices have fully working vista drivers and which don't because that will be a major deciding factor. Obviously the better the bundled software and more inputs the better. I'm currently leaning towards the EMU 0404 usb, but I found an online review which mentioned some Vista compatibility problems. Any ideas/recommendations would be appreciated.

I have a Presonus Inspire 1394 which is great but I guess not much use to you as its firewire - you can get firewire pci cards for laptops though, if you have a pci slot? Anyway I'm using it in Vista and its fine now - I had to install a hotfix then reinstall the driver though as I was getting crackly and distorted sound all the time. Not too much hassle and it seems to be working allright.
