Convincing a mate to go Bareknuckle

My mates after some new pickups for his Epi SG Extreme. All he plays is metal. I'm trying to convince him into getting a Miracle Man or Warpig, but he seems to think SD or EMG are better "because more people use them". I even showed him Tims MM soundclip, and Ratrods "Suicide Messiah" Warpig clip, but he still seems to think EMG or SD will be the best for metal. I dunno what else I can try to convince him! I just want him to get great tone! Some people eh

I've had this with guitarists who haven't seen the light too. Well if more people like Steve Stevens start using them then perhaps more players will take notice. Man, all you have to do is hear the difference and you will be converted!

I know, I plan to have a jam with him sometime to show him my Mules! The only trouble is, he has an SG with Floyd rose in it, which will sound completely different to my hardtail LP I'm guessing.

have you got an older sister? Maybe she could convince him? :wink:

Seriously though, just play him one of the pro-style clips on this site, tell him its an EMG or SD; see what he thinks. Then tell him that its handmade by a small company in Britain, he can have it customised inside and out; and then, if he is still a total eejit, tell him to try and call Seymour Duncan himself to talk pickups. :D

haha nope my sisters younger. I showed him Tims Miracle Man clip earlier and he said something like "hmm I think EMG will be better", my god I think I almost had a heart attack :lol: I dunno, I guess I'll have to let him get his SD's or whatever, and then he'll wish he hadnt spent his money on them  :twisted:

Well you could try and ridicule his argument that "most people use them". Lots of people bought S Club 7 cds - that didn't make them good. Best I can come up with.

I have the same problem. Our lead guitarist's Malmsteen Strat could use a VHII and IT set and his Gibbo LP could use a set of Mules IMO.

I'm thinking I'm just more serious about my tone/music or that others are plain tone deaf. :evil:

Yeah, all my mates, in my eyes, have "bad" setups. Sounds bad to say that but its true! Stock Epi guitars, into multifx units - zoom/boss/zoom, Marshall MGs/Valvestate/Laney Hardcore max respectively.

I probably sound like a snob or whatever for saying that but I dont care, I like good tone!

I dont trust other people with my gear, I dunno why, not even my good mates. I dont really like playing other peoples either, its weird!

Like I said though, I'll have a jam with him soon, and let him have a go on it where I can see him playing  :lol:
