I had a band practice to day at our local rooms, and the owner has recently put some new kit in them. Namely new amps.
Before, each room had 2 Laney half stacks, so I was surprised today when we went in and in place of the Laneys there were 2 tiny Roland Cube amps. I was a bit sceptical, being that when we rehearse we really make a noise.
But, never one to criticise without an informed opinion, I kept an open mind and plugged in...OH. MY. GOD.
I had it set to the recto setting and was blown away, had it at just less than half volume and it was having no trouble matching our drummer. The sound was huge! It had phenomenal clarity and definition and I must say I was completely bowled over. I handed my axe to our new guitarist and i picked up the Bass. We turned the setting to one of the clean amps and he started playing Sultans of swing. It was tone perfect. The cleans were crystal clear, sparkling.
I've seen this amp online for around £150 brand new. I think most players would be foolish NOT to have one in their collection at this price, I can honestly say I've never seen a bargain that good.
We didn't get to play around with the other sounds and settings as we were pushed for time, but even if only the 2 settings we used were available on the model, for the sound quality I think it's still a bargain.
Now, looking at the quality of the product and then the price, one has to ask:
What's the catch?
