Early in the Summer I was sent some cables from US high end manufacturer, Straightwire. (
www.straightwire.com) I was very impressed with the cables and told them so. They in turn asked if I would give them a testimonial in exchange for a cable endorsement. I said, "Sure, why not".
The advert featuring my tesimonial was used in this year's CEDIA convention (a huge US trade show for custom audio designers and installers). I have a text copy of the ad, but I've not seen the finished product yet.
My box of cables arrived last Monday and I rewired my home theater system this morning. This is the first time I've ever used a designed cable system for my components instead of the usual hodge podge of stuff acquired through work over the years. (A mixture of Nordost, Audioquest, JPS, Tiffany, Purist Audio, Cardas, Wireworld, Transparent, MIT etc etc have been through my system through the years) I told them I needed 2 component video cables, 1.5 pair of spkr cables (for my front speakers), 2.5 pair of interconnects (going from my pre/pro to my amp), and a single digital cable from my DVD player. They sent me exactly what I ordered, with cables chosen to compliment my gear. (The cables are valued at about $3,000)
It took about 2 hrs to pull my system apart and rewire. Even though nothing has settled in yet, I must say that I've noticed a big improvement in both picture and sound. My Krell amp is capable of putting out
insane amounts of power and low end control, but I've noticed that the bass is now more authoritative, deeper, and pronounced. The midrange and high frequencies are very natural sounding. When playing music, the imaging and soundstage is rock solid, focused, with great phase coherency.
Overall, a great improvement!!
