NGD and NAD
« on: September 21, 2008, 09:25:51 PM »
Well, technically I got the amp yesterday and the guitar on thursday, but i've only been arsed to put a topic up until now!

I figured I may as well put up a pic of the family, so here they are, the Danelectro and the Tiny Terror are the new ones.

When i first tried the tiny terror last night, i thought i may have made a mistake, it sounded a bit fizzy. But it won me over this afternoon when some cranking happened! I reckon i'll probably get a new cab, as stated in another thread, but that will have to wait until next month.

And here are some single pics of the main ones.

This should be getting some mules at some point, once i've sorted the cabinet issue probably.

Mr Dano

The Ibanez EW Paduak.
Driving in my car, smoking my cigar, the only time i'm happys when i'm playing my guitar!

That Danelectro is too art deco for my tastes, but the acoustic is beautiful.

Nice !   I like the look of the Dano's but, from memory, I seem to think that they have too narrow a nut width for me.

What are your plans for a new cab ?  What sort of budget are you looking at ?

I can't see the pics until I get home, but would I be right in guessing it's the 59 Dano? Congrats anyway :D

If so, Hamfist, I seem to remember the nut width is perhaps a smidge less than my Fenders, and a fair bit less than Gibson-type thingies - I was playing mine several hours yesterday, doesn't cause me problems, and I've had trouble with narrow necks before, but them bigger-handed folks might struggle I guess... - I'll check when I get home if no-one else enlightens you in the meantime :D

Yup, I need at least 43mm (Gibson width) to fit my fingers in there. My username was chosen for a good reason !  But you know what they say about big hands !!

Love those Ibanez ZW acoustics.

i always struggle with the idea of a heavy hardwood as a choice for a soundboard - but the paduak one does look quite nice.  How does the sound compare to a normal acoustic?

I cant stand the quilted maple top versions - just wrong!

I think it sounds a lot louder and fuller.

I agree though, I hate quilted tops!
