eggle berlin with bkp's?
« on: September 22, 2005, 05:36:57 PM »
hello everbody, and welcome to my first post on this forum!
i've just gotten a recent (last two years) Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro, and i think the pickups are Bareknuckles.  i know they're not Seymour Duncan's.  i want to check, did bareknuckle supply pickups to them, if so is there a definate way to identify them ( i haven't changed the strings yet, when i do i'll take one out and look at the bottom), and if they were supplied, which models of pickup did they get?
i hope someone can help, and thanks in advance to anyone who can.

Welcome Blue.

If they are Bare Knuckles, the logo should be on the bottom of the pickup.

We did supply Patrick Eggle guitars and still do but primarily with their flagship models and only from last year so I doubt if yours has BKPS.All of the pickups we supply have  the Patrick Eggle logo on the bottom and Handwound in the UK etched too. When you next change strings a quick look under the pickups will soon tell.

Welcome to the forum too :D

thanks for the replies, and i'm sorry to say Tim is right, they're not bareknuckles!  over the weekend i took out the bridge pickup, and it has two stickers underneath, one with a Kent Armstrong logo and the other saying Sky pickups, made in korea!  the thing is, they really don't sound bad.  but it shows how much your perception can be coloured by such things, once i knew they were korean, i suddenly became more critical of their sound.
as i say they don't sound bad, but maybe someday i'll want to try some bareknuckles in there anyway.  i already have a couple in an Epiphone Les Paul, and i'm considering a pair of missisippi queens for another guitar, so i've been beaten in this round, but i'll be back!

Sky are Kent Armstrongs pickups - they're excellent for the money!

True. You could have them rewound by Tim.
