BKPs Number 13 and 14 on the way ...
« on: October 04, 2008, 09:01:08 PM »

Hooola, finally went for it, a black covered RiffRaff bridge and black covered MQ for the neck of my SG Standard. Cannot wait till they arrive. Once equipped with new PUs, the guitar will also get a setup/fret dress/nut job, I need those plastic fret ends made nice and frets levelled.

This will be a NICE SG, the resonance of the wood and all is fantastic ...

Sounds like and interesting combination, h/bucker & P90.
Clips when you've got the guitar set-up?

That sounds like a brilliant combination of pickups !

I love the M.Qs - and have heard / played ( but not owned ) a Riff Raff loaded S.G. - so can imagine that the combination will be stunning !

I look forward to reading about your chosen set.  :)

I agree :D

I nearly tried the combination myself (swapping things round with what I've got) a month or so back. But I was scared I might like it - it would have left me with an MQ bridge and RR neck for the other guitar - so I saved it as a further option for later if swapping the RR and MQ sets across guitars didn't work

Yeah took me quite a while to figure it out ... there are still too many BKPs I do not own (yet) :O)

Hey but that RR neck MQ bridge combo could be fun, it's a bit awkward at a first glance, but will definitely give you more range than the other way round, I mean an even brighter bridge and an even smoother neck (though with the RR I guess not too smooth) gives you more bandwith to play with, right?

I mean it's almost a pity we always put em the other way to counterbalance the difference of the pickup position...

I always try to go for a warm neck pickup and bright(ish) bridge pickup, I like the extreme contrast.   Which is why, I guess, I'm not too crazy about my BD/SM combo.

I believe the RR neck is relatively bright, though, with its AV magnet?

I have that exact combo of pickups in my faded Flying Vee and it makes for a very versatile sounding guitar.

Hope you enjoy them!
