Supermassive cold sweats
« on: October 05, 2008, 05:52:29 PM »
This is a cut down Supermassive Black Hole by Muse using a cold sweat bridge in an sg, with blackstar DistX, and Fuzz Factory, played through an Orange Rockerverb 50. Please dont be too critical as I have not been playing long.

Although I am open to advice  :D

Sounds cool! Perhaps just a little too much chorus/reverb :D (don't know the original song...)

PS: This cat looks cool...

Keep up the good work.
Shame you have far too much reverb which is making the whole thing sound distant. I'm sure without the sound would be very good.  :D

On your playing (I'm not one to talk I'm rubbish) you're doing very well for not playing long, if you work on your bends to get the pitch accurate it'll sound great (A good practice technique is too Fret a target note so you know what to aim for then move two frets down and bend to the note you've just played. )

Hey prozac.  I am one of those odd individuals that likes spaced out tunes, so i very much appreciate the excessive reverb.  However, a note on your playing.  I am not going to be super critical, but you would do well to play with a metronome.  The whole thing sounded a little bit out of time.  I always play with a metronome, it keeps me on task, and i have improved massively because of it.  Cool tune too, though i am not a big fan of Muse, at least the guitar sounds good

Thanks for the tips people, unfortunately my site is now down due to breaking my download limit.....oops , I'm stuck at work right now but will endeavour to get it sorted ASAP.
It is much more reverb than I would normaly use, but the track has a kind of weird etherial sound to it which I was trying capture. Just playing silly buggers on a rainy Sunday afternoon really  :P
On the plus side this weekend was the first time me and my husband have attempted to record anything and we at least managed the basics. It's also the first time I've been able to sit back and listen to myself play and that can only make me a better player in the long run.

I too like the tone and the reverb - kinda reminds me of some indie bands I saw in the 80s - great stuff, keep em coming

That's the best way IMO - also posting stuff on pretty much guarantees that you receive some really useful, constructive and helpful critique. What a nice bunch of people we are!

I certainly would not have posted on one of those forums where people just lay into each other for the hell of it. I was hoping for some constructive advice and encouragement, and that’s what I got. So thanks again people
