Pickup Rings for SG200
« on: October 07, 2008, 12:44:56 PM »
Quick question - my Yam SG 200 has 3 screws in each pickup ring holding the pickups.

I haven't opened it yet - I'd assume it's pretty straight forward to replace the rings?  Are "angled rings" all angled to the same degree?  Or will I need to sculpt the rings to fit a curved body?

Or would I just drill another hole in the existing rings to accommodate?

Cheers.

Mark.

either way works,

if it was a carved top you would maybe have a little more fitting if you changed the rings but i wouldnt worry about it on a flat top guitar

I switched mine when I switched to BKP's. The stock pickup rings won't work with BKP's. They're not wide enough and they have three adjustment screws instead of two.

I took my SG to a guitar shop and test fitted several pickup rings.

Cheers, Mr Rod.  Did you need to get any of the wood chisled away too?

No, I didn't need to chip anything away.Buti t was a tight fit. I did have to drill new holes for the rings.
