This Months Guitarist?
« on: October 07, 2008, 01:44:41 PM »
The one with Seasick Steve on the cover.
Is anyone else having trouble finding this is in the shops? It was meant to be out almost 2 weeks ago and it's like rocking horse shitee in Newcastle not a single magazine shop has had a copy (So they tell me).

I know ole' seasick is an in thing at the moment but I wouldn't have thought he'd cause a run on a geetar mag...

Maybe it's just a local distribution problem, it seems to happen sometimes.  I'm forever missing odd issues of Guitar Player then having to buy them on eBay (from a chap in Germany!).

i've got mine... guitar buyer seems to be the bigger problem here, it often doesn't materialise in the shops here in NI until a week after the due date...

I haven't looked in it for years, but I "read" this issue in Smiths the other day when looking for something to read on a train journey.

When I saw it was over a fiver and I'd already skim-read the bits I was interested in, I thought "you must be kidding me! I could buy half a guitar pick for that much!"

(In months to come, that might not make sense to the casual observer... I just took delivery of a Red Bear guitar pick yesterday.)

Years ago I'd have said the same Philly. But magazines encourage that "hording" or "collecting" urge somewhat, don't they?

I ditched a load of guitar/music related magazines 5 or 6 years ago. Then I filled drawers with cricket related magazines - they're gone as well now.

I only buy a magazine now if I actually want to read most of it. One of the deciders for this one was the Classic Vibe review, my first thought was "ooo yeah, worth it for that", but then when I glanced over the review, and I thought "hang on, I already know all this - I've played the wretched things, and came to exactly the same conclusions..."!

Who me, hoard?  Thing is, how can I suddenly stop when I've never missed an issue?!

But I was really saying I'd never spend £10 (or whatever it is) or a Red Bear pick.  It wouldn't make me sound any better.
