Energy Drinks
« on: October 10, 2008, 01:11:33 PM »
I know that this is probably one of the saddest things that you have heard but its got to the point where its not funny anymore. For the past year i have seriously been hitting the energy drinks and for the past 2 months or so i have really been struggling to stay off them. I get really bad cravings for them at usually about 8pm - 10 pm. I start shaking and i can smell them without even being anywhere near one. They are starting to really affect me now as well. I had two litres of the stuff in the space of 2 hours before a gig and i felt like i was going to die. I had been off the stuff for 3 weeks now until 20 mins ago.

its not just the caffine in those things is it? but aload of other chemicals/drugs too.. i can see why they're addictive, but they're also well expensive.

maybe start drinking something less bad for you? green tea is rather caffine rich and meant to be healthy.

energy drinks should be banned, well to school children anyway, they are annoying enough without buzzing their heads off

there are probably lots of calories in those drinks too, a 2 litre bottle of coke has 1000 calories in it, and men are only suppose to take in 2500 calories a day maximum and to drink 1.5 litres a day

personally I only drink water and milk now, I used to drink lots of diet coke and diet fanta, but most fizzy drinks seem to have citric acid in them which damages your teeth, I don't drink orange or other fruit drinks as their natural sugar will damage your teeth too

Are you sure 1.5l a day? I drink up to 4.
Govt guideline is 3l + 0.8 in moisture from food

You have to be 16 in a lot of shops before you can buy them anyway.

Funny enough, in the better half's school, the kids are completely banned from having any such thing in the school, and anything "brightly and artificially coloured". Apparently it's made a big difference to the kids.

I've never indulged in them much myself, but I would drink several litres of black coffee a day, so i know the symptoms all too well. Never take them on an empty stomach. Back whe I was a chef, the boss used to talk about TMC, NEF (too much coffee, not enough food), when a poor chef-type's intake of coffee and fags left him gibbering and shaking like a dog shiteeing in snow.

energy drinks are the most pointless thing ever!!

they most commonly sell to overweight ppl who dont move at all.. and need no energy, if you eat the right things you wont run out of energy.. its not like they only sell to atheletes who need some extra energy (which would be the only point of them) but then you would get something isotonic not some sticky fizzy goo like red bull or relentless.

energy drink and vodka should be outright banned.. whats worse than a drunk... a drunk who has energy, the tiredness that alcahol ussully brings dulls the anger.. but the energy drinks stop that.

Red bull is one of the only things I can drink vodka with though, nothing else is sweet enough to get rid of the vile vodka flavour

Trouble is that at since starting uni, I've had so much vodka and coke that even coke by itself has started tasting a bit vodka-y somehow, I guess it just reminds me of it haha. $%&#ing disgusting.

Not really. if you don't like the taste of Vodka, drink something else, or drink some better vodka. there shouldn't be that strong a taste off it anyway.

Drink whiskey and pints of stout, and one day you can be a grizzled old fart like your uncle Headtheball.

Spitfire: Mind you, if Vodka/Energy drink gives you aggressive drunks, you should see some of the local punters after a feed of Buckfast Tonic Wine and Red Bull. It's like watching a car-crash inside someone's head.

Vodka is the only alcohol that will get you bloody w**kered for relatively cheap though

Buckfast and red bull mixed?! Buckfast allready has more caffeine per 100ml than red bull doesnt it?
