Lovely guitars- they look very manly.

Except for the saddles that is.

Sorry they are actually really nice looking teles, and although I have a thing about Esquires, bound teles are the nicest looking of all

Love it. Red Edgebound Fenders are just damnably handsome.

Oh alright then, sorry for the thread hijack.

What's the story with the middle thinline? I've had my eye on one for a while but don't like the colour options, and binding would be sweeeeeet.

What's wrong with the saddles? Admittedly Philly's got girly ones on his, but TheDev01dOne has manly ones on three out of four...

What's the story with the middle thinline? I've had my eye on one for a while but don't like the colour options, and binding would be sweeeeeet.

It's a 1997 USA one, I bought it new.  The model was actually called the "90s Tele Thinline" - bound ash body and pearloid scratchplate, everything else is exactly the same as an American Standard Tele from that era.  The colour is "crimson transparent", I believe (it's got quite nice grain but it didn't come out in that pic).

It's one of my least-modified guitars - it's had a few different pickups but right now it's completely stock apart from pearloid tuner buttons to combat the neck-heaviness.

They discontinued the model in the early '00s, and I'm pretty sure there's no Thinline in the current Fender USA range.

Yeah, I'm thinking I might sell the Baja and put a Glendale vintage style bridge on one of those three, but I'm not sure which one.   The others are keeping the girly saddles.

Just because you don't like being told that you look gay when you play a telecaster, don't go turning that around, now ;)

:D

But seriously, what is wrong with you people?

I am going to have to thoroughly agree with Roo here.  Even though my hatred is not as strong for the Telez as Roo (and i even like a SELECT few), they look fvckin weird and ungainly.  The day i pick up a Tele will be the day i reach my grave.  I would never consider picking one up, and i mean, come on, there is a certain queer element to them.  I mean, just look at them - they are like something out of a pretentious artfvck artdeco community, or some weird modern art gallery.

Might sell?? Already?

Shouldn't have called her "Badger", try a nice name like "Emilia" or something for a week or so, you might bond a little better

Aren't you a fan of things like RGs?  Do you honestly think they look really butch with all those slender pointy bits, day-glo colours and that puny little toothpick of a neck?

And as for the weird modern art thing, I'm sure I've seen you raving about Conklins before.

Just a possibility!  What I've learned from the Baja is that "traditional" Tele tone is really all about the bridge, so I could basically get that by changing the bridge on one of my other Teles.  I'm just thinking do I really want four of them?

Another alternative is making Badger a relic project, but I'm not at all sure I want to go down that road.

I suspect the finish on the body might need a lot of hard work to get it to "age" nicely  :?

Yeah, apparently poly is relic-able, but it doesn't lend itself to the process the way nitro does.

I wouldn't mind a Baja or maye just the S1 switching to put in my Squier.

Relicing a poly finish would be a major pain in the arse I suspect, especially to make it look convincing.

Yeah, I might settle for a bit of wire-wool treatment just to take the shine off - it's not the sort of guitar which should have a shiny finish.

I am not saying that i look butch with my RGs.  Butch is effectively reserved for LPs and SGs, no contest, no comment, period.  But they certainly aren't queer like a Telecaster, what with that strange bridge contraption, that very odd bulbous body shape, not to mention that REVOLTING headstock.

As for Conklins, well, my general perception of most of the stuff they make over there, on an aesthetic level, is "ICK!"  However, as a luthier i am awed at the level of skill and craftsmanship that goes into making those "wood melts."  Some of the stuff they do is nice, but the ones i like are more along the lines of and similar to ESP LTD superstrats.  That whitesnake guitar is an ocular rape.

I think you might be taking this whole thing a bit far.. A guitar is a guitar, I'm pretty sure it defines nothing about your sexual orientation.
