Warmoth Showcase Ordering

If I ordered from the Warmoth Showcase how long would it take for it to get here? And how much is the extra cost for importing (see below for cost of body and neck)?

$527.00 is what I came up with, body and neck (inc. fret size, etc.)

Some Showcase items need work prior to shipping (for example, if the neck doesn't have a nut slot cut and you want to have it cut, or a body blank that needs bridge routing). I believe your order will state what the expected ship date is. Generally, I've never had a Showcase part ship later than 48 hrs after ordering, provided they are not doing finish work.

With the economy being so bad, there are very few waiting lists these days and service-oriented companies are trying all the harder to provide exceptional service just to keep their heads above water!

When I ordered my two Strat bodies a few weeks ago they took about 10 days to reach me in the UK, it might even have been a little less than that.  As Ben mentioned, they needed a little bit of work (routing for a bridge HB and vintage trem in my case), I'm sure it's quicker if nothing at all needs doing.

They don't tell you the shipping charge immediately when you order - they charge the cost of the items then charge the shipping separately later.  It cost me about $80 for the two bodies, I guess your body and neck would be slightly cheaper.

Then remember you'll have to pay another 20% (approx, maybe a bit more) in VAT and import duty when they reach the UK.

I went for Humbuckers for Neck and Bridge, and then a normal clear satin with Gotoh/Grover and Corian nut and 6100 fret wire.

The Telecaster Warmoth Pro is a universal fit neck isn't it?
Do I really need a neck finish? (clear satin)

It is if you're fitting it to a Tele body - the Tele necks have a square heel, the Strat necks have a rounded one.

Warmoth recommend a finish under the terms of their warranty.  You could get an unfinished neck and do an oil/wax finish which I'm sure is great, but personally I'd prefer to buy a pre-finished neck.

Never got a finished neck from Warmoth and never had a problem. I prefer oil only, so they wouldn't cover it under warranty regardless. Blighty has a lot more humidity than most places in the US ('cept for the Deep South), however.

As Philly said, Teles are the exception to the "universal heel" rule. When I ordered the neck for my Criss Oliva clone, I told the guy on the phone tele heel, reverse Jackson headstock, blah blah. He was like, 'Ooo, that guitar is gonna be badass!!' PDT_008

funny :) the guys are obviously good sales guys - when i ordered my hardtail humbucker body the guy was like - 'thats a novelty, a jazzmaster that rocks and stays in tune'

I think it'd be roughly just under £400 ... Not inc. hardware or electronics.

allow about 25%... buggers hit you wherever they can (the parcel force £12 admin fee is one such example that usually catches me out).  it might be less than 25% but its rarely more unless you happen to be buying small items which catch the admin fee

In any case I can afford it. I've never paid for additional charges, ie. import tax before. Like I've only purchased at the store/online and that was it.

Does the bloke delivering your stuff expect cash at hand or.. ?

depends... parcel force want paying first.  If you miss the parcel they send you a bill the next day that needs paying before redelivery.  Most other companies pay the customs for you and send you a bill at the end of the month, sometimes unexpectedly!!
