A Little Help on Technique
« on: October 20, 2008, 03:13:16 PM »
I need to know what's the best way to play the following without throwing my guitar out the window. Like pick direction, etc. I play it a certain way but it's a bit fiddley and thought someone could show me some way it could be easier. Who knows, I could be right, but just wanted a second thought on it.

Thanks.

oops slipped on the keyboard !!
I would def play the 1st bit as a d minor arpeggio in 3 different inversions on the E-B and G strings so the picking is all the same. Down up,up,up.

I'd play:
--17--13             --13--10           10--5
             --15                   --10              --6
                   --14                 --10               --7

What song is it and who by?

I'd personally probably sweep pick it, and hammer on/pull off the notes on the same string. Although if it was a bit slower, i'd probably just do all up strokes, but a down stroke on the 19th fret on the B String to get back up.

You could also play it as a 2 notes per string, string skipping lick, Paul Gilbert style. That would probably sound good

I sweep it, it's just the transition between sweeping up and down.
