Opal Fruits ("made to make your mouth water"... sigh)  they changed to Starburst or something, didn't they?

Oh, and the BIG one - the missus added this - Treats, whatever happened to them? (M&Ms).

And the old favourite: "just out to buy some fags, back in a minute..."

To my eternal shame, I have actually spoken to people who refused to buy any goods that had changed their names in Britain to match their worldwide names. Such an odd stance to take.

Yeah, but Treets (spelling!) weren't quite the same as M&Ms.  They weren't multi-coloured and they came in three varieties - peanut, toffee and chocolate.  The chocolate ones were big, the same as Minstrels, not tiny like chocolate M&Ms.

Didn't they ( Treets) melt in your mouth but not in your hand? A remarkable quality for an item of confectionary-pushing the performance envelope somewhat. I used to like those walnut whips-do they still make them?

Correct!  Although I never put it to the test...

I used to like those walnut whips-do they still make them?

I had one (well, two... ) just a few weeks ago.  They're not the same though - the chocolate is thinner and not so intricately layered, and now there's only a walnut on the top, no second one hidden at the bottom like there used to be.  Penny-pinchers.

On the issue of American sports like baseball, just not American Football.   Oh, just looked on Wikipedia and it seems baseball comes from Surrey, so its originally an English game after all.  Cricket is better :)

I dunno. Isn't cricket vs. baseball kinda like Dopey and Grumpy scr@pping over who's tallest? At the end of the day, they'll still need a stool to get the biccies out of the cupboard.

:o Baseball is NOT an English game! An adolescent boy swinging a wooden stick in a remote English courtyard some 200 years ago hardly justifies that point. Blasphemy!!

Well, if our dear Jane mentioned it Northanger Abbey (published before the first game in America) - that settles it! :D

And Philly, I did debate the spelling of Treets with the missus - she insisted it was Treats

I've never had M&Ms, but my recollection of Treets is exactly as yours and 38th. And yes, they did melt in your mouth but not in your hand as long as you didn't push them too far - I can remember when they came out and me and my gran performed rigorous testing on this marketing claim!!
