Yep, its a 'new workshop day'

i say workshop, at the moment its little more than a shed so i still have loads to do before its habitable for wood and guitars

so far most of my guitar building has taken place out of a small spare room in my house with very few power tools (small bandsaw, many routers and a bench drill)... but being in a terrace i was starting to get on the neighbours nerves every time i turned a router on  - and obviously thats been getting more and more frequent.  also i had literally no more space left!!

so this new space is going to allow me to get some bigger power tools and use them when i damn well want.  Its 16x8' which is actually bigger than the spare room i am in currently.

next jobs are making sure its water tight and secure,  then  mega insulating it and electrifying it.

you may notice its as wide as my garden ;)

I am just happy to have somehwere i can really get to work without worrying about other people

you do know leo fender started in a shed dont you... i will be knocking out tele's before you can blink

PRS started in a loft, John Birch started on his Kitchen table  (actually there is a rather nice guitar having its frets seen to on my kitchen table at the moment)... i think boogie amps started in a shed before moving to a garage

Nothing like getting a new toy :) When it's all padded and kitted out, be sure to show us some pictures of the inside!

You better get some A/C or something in that thing, because come summertime you will die of heatstroke.
BKPz: Nailbomb+VHII, more to come...

well my indoor workshop doesnt have a/c and i can tell you hand carving bubinga sure gets hot over summer - i am used to that!

but yeah - i think the double doors will be open at summer time with a big fan going.

Its a long way from your neighbours too which should keep them happy.  You'll have to run a good supply to it if you are going to use bigger power tools!  Have fun with it anyway - it looks like it will be a great workshop.

Looks great Wez. I am just a little concerned about the security aspect as I deal with the aftermath of the scum preying upon the rest of us all and every day.

yeah, so am I... the windows will receive fold down shutters with a bar across the inside.  i need to work on making the doors a bit more secure as well,  and i think i will get a workshop alarm.  i have some very nosy neighbours which is also helpful... like i say, lots to do before i want to move into it

it might be a while before i can start getting the real big boys toys but when i do they will all be firmly chained into place as well.

I'll do security for you if you make me a few free BKP loaded WezV guitars.  I'll supply the lasers, signs, window bars, and razor wire.;)

Ooo, is that AAA wood? Whats the tap tone like?

I would have preferred it in sunburst.

Looks great Wez - I also worry about upsetting the neighbours with excessive noise, nice to hear that I am not the only one who worries about this!

More importantly have you got a name for your workshop? Something a bit zany would go down well - I've always liked what Zappa called his recording studio (Utility Muffin Research Kitchen).
I think I hate being indecisive.

Admit it Wez, that's got nothing to do with guitars and everything to do with getting away from the missus...
