New Feline Lion With Rebel Yells. Learn To Fly By Foo's
« on: November 01, 2008, 06:33:36 PM »
I've been recording with my new baby!

Learn To Fly By The Foo fighters

Rebel Yell Bridge Pick Up In A Feline Lion Guitar. Koch Powertone II Amp Channel 2 Gain 5, Presance 6 Bass And Midrange 10, Treble 8 Mid Shift +, Reverb 1. Telenordia Compressor set about half way. Sonic Maximiser Lo Contour and Process at 12 o clock. Direct out via Loadbox into EMU 1820 Audio Interface and into Cubase VST.

Hope you like it. I got carried away with multi tracking!

EDIT Here's the same track but with vocals from an online collab' added by Greeny from Songcrafters.org I think he did a superb job using a MBR.

Sounds great, I love this song :) I find the RYs a bit too 80s sounding for me but you're making them work well. Seems like the maple cap helps with the problem I had - was a bit too congested sounding in the mids (or lack of a better description) when playing chords, thats in an all mahogany guitar.

Thanks for the feedback!  :D

Tom, i did tweek the amp a lot to get the tone. I backed the presence right off, which I should have done with a lot of my recordings. I played the Koch Head Through a Marshal 1960 4X12 the other night and it sounds like a different amp! Great in a different way, very Marshally.

Sounded great Johnny. I love that song. Was singing away to it whilst Mrs 38th was trying to watch "Strictly".

the rebel yells sound really excellent in your clip!

As I said over at songcrafters - great work, well played, well mixed, very close to the original sound (which isnt easy), very well done. And this is from years ago and with your old gear! What you were doing then was way ahead of what I was doing then! I hope to see some even better stuff from you in the (near!) future!

As I didnt say over at songcrafters cos there was no nice or constructive way to say it; that singer dude aint too hot, and imo it steps on the track; too loud, poorly recorded, not well blended with the track, weak and unacceptably flawed performance and it generally brings the quality level down.

Sorry dude, I know you like the vocal he did, but your mix was much better and the whole thing sounded much more professional befiore it was added.
