Alright so my Ibanez Saber from the 80's has a warpig in the bridge position. The pickup sounds great but theres something missing like the ntoes just dont jump out much. I have 10 gauge strings, original floyd and ive raised the pickup.................is it because the guitar is really light and small? for somereason I think the small size cant sustain the massive tone and a largeer guitar like a les paul or V would really let the massive sound flow.........any imput? thanks

Ive got an SG with stock pickups............would the pickup possibly sound better in the SG?...........other issue is......I wouldnt put the SG pickup in the ibanez as I dont like the gibson stock pickups.....so if i put the warpig pickup in the SG id ve foreced to buy another pickup for the ibanez (which i dont have the cash for right now).......I have EMG's laying around the house but I dont have the wiring and i dont like them anyway, thanks

look for a cheap used pup for the ibanez

If anything, a lightweight thin-sounding guitar should work best with a powerful pickup.  Those superstrats with Floyds don't have a naturally fat tone or tons of sustain.  That's why they can sound good with a bassy pickup like a DiMarzio Tone Zone (which sounds absolutely shite in a Les Paul or SG).

it was one of those old Ibanez USA F1's or whatever the name is. That pickup didnt pack any power at all and sounded thin so I figured it would take a badass heavy motherf*cker to drive this little ibanez and though i like all the gain I think it might pack a little too much power for such a small axe.

btw-The EMG's have no wiring or batteries, how much could I get for them? (theyre collecting dust here)

I have a set of Warpigs on a Gibson SG and that is what they are suited for. Give them a try on your SG!

ill have to find a guy wanting to buy EMG's around here............cause.........I need the $$ to upgrade the ibanez too and the $$ to pay the shop to switch pickups and if you guys have seen my other posts I wanna save for a Miracle man and VHII set as well........I really gotta get my priorities straight  :lol:

Another vote for the Warpigs in the SG - that'll be br00tal.

I'd put the EMGs in the Ibanez - they're perfect for guitars that have poor natural tone.  I use EMGs as a last resort - I do like them, but only when nothing else works (like with my Epi Explorer).

i'd really have to heavily think about that lol.....maybe its the wood god knows.....but until I know its the wood i probably won't stick in EMG's, i think ill give it one more shot at a new pickup and if thats a flop then I'll go EMG lol
