Max Payne Movie
« on: November 08, 2008, 08:33:53 AM »
Well i was REALLY looking forward to this as i thought with the plotline of the original game they couldnt go far wrong with it.

However half of the plot was missing it wasn't consitent and the acting was piss poor.

Sad to say that im really let down by what could have been a great movie.

I was also really looking forward to the Metal Gear Solid Movie until i found out that Christian Bale is playing Snake and not David Hayter.... They aren't even using Hayters voice.,... so i fear im gonna be let down yet again by what could have possible been a fantastic film.

i am very sceptical about movie adaptations of games. the other way around it works better, but most of the games SUCK bigtime.

the only movie, that i can think of, off the top of my head, that is good is Hitman (and that one is good, cos Vin Diesel was the producer)

havent seen max payne yet, but i really havent got high hopes for it

silent hill was interesting with how they did it.

Not fantastic though.

Metal gear should be flawless if they keep the script from the game im just worried about the actor choice.

Then again max payne should have been good but they ditched most of the script and the narration which builds the atmosphere.

This isn't some random actor we're talking about... This is Christian Bale, one of the best actors today. I'm sure he'll be good.

Very true, i also hear hes playing John Connor in the new Terminator movie.

Movies based on video games are almost always bad, Super Mario Bros anyone?

What does David Hayter even look like? And does he act or just do voices? I've never seen the guy, only heard his voice...

And where did you hear about the MGS movie? Got a site for me? I would like to check it out, I'm hoping it's based off the first game. :)

It should be flawless unless Uwe Bull or however you spell his name keeps his fcking mitts off of it.
I don't think hideo kojima would let a shitety ass B movie director touch his franchise though.

and... Christian Bale rocks. :) Equilibrium is the baddest film ever, I mean that in a good way.

+1

i have the original game, it's really good... the problem is, what sounds like a good plot in a game (when a plot is more or less a secondary consideration) often falls flat in a film when that's the only thing it has going for it (and not gameplay etc.)... i'm guessing that's the problem, anyway. :)

If there's no bullet-time bits and Max Paynes' face isn't one flat image then they have instantly failed.

Christ the plot of the metal gear solid games is so bad the movie would be instant b movie slush. Hells, Uwe Boll would probably improve it some how.

As for Max Payne and Silent Hill, both had great visuals, but the story let them down. For SH the acting was pretty cr@ppy too.

I was very upfor going to see the Max Payne film, until I saw a trailer for it and it seems to be about Angels/Religious stuff, which for me is too far away from the games to be anything like it.

I'll probably watch it when it's out on DVD.

As regards games into films, I've always thought that Half Life would've made a great film.

The trailer looks epic, whether it will be good or not is a different story. I'd like to also add i've never actually played the game.
