Falling In And Out Of Love
« on: November 14, 2008, 08:10:31 PM »
Do you guys find that you can fall in and out of love with a piece of gear?

I'm finding that at the moment with the Blackstar HT Dual.  One minute I love the tone, the next I get frustrated with its limitations.

Same with my Orange, actually...

... Maybe it's just me?

Mark.

The ONLY amp/distortion source I've ever played and been happy with every time is my powerball with an EQ20 in the effects loop. Not even the PB on its own.

Everything else, save my legra, I can get on with or get pissed off with.

I know how you feel.

(And I'm even still looking for better than the PB  )

is this not as much to do with the way ears work as anything else, if you hear something a lot your ears start to block out the more harmfull elements of it... take a break and then come back and see how you feel

Another thing is if my playing is worse than normal, I get annoyed with my tone and therefore with my gear. On days when the notes are flowing more smoothly I have a lot less trouble with tone.

This is exactly why i have a filled-out warwick 5-guitar rack ;)

Now I'm working on getting a different cab and an amp or two...
