NGD!
« on: November 14, 2008, 09:48:04 PM »
I went to see Doug at Blackmachine today to collect his original idigbo B6. I've never in my life played a guitar that feels or sounds as good as this - even though it cost just just over a grand I think I've got a bargain. The first thing to note is that the guitar weighs next to nothing, but sounds huge! It's a very comfortable guitar to play - the neck is very slim and very fast. I also appreciate the attention to detail, the only bit of plastic I could find on the guitar is the selector switch knob. Even the control cavity and truss rod covers are wood.

I'd reel off a ton of superlatives, but I've spent far too much time away from the guitar....

Awesome mate, I played that guitar and it was pretty insane! What pickups did it have in when you got it? Warpigs or Cold Sweats?

It has Cold Sweats. Initially I wanted it with Warpigs as it originally had, but Doug advised that they gave the guitar a little too much bottom end. The Cold Sweats sound great - I did have a set in my SG which I found to be a little too bright for my tastes, but this isn't the case with the B6.

I'm really impressed with look, feel and sound of the idigbo - I'm also chuffed as this was the only one made before the switch to swamp ash   :D

Here's a photo - it doesn't really capture the colour or grain of the wood very well. I'll take some snaps outside when there's some daylight (and hopefully no rain!).

I heard your guitar with the Cold Sweats in and I think you made the right choice. It was without question highly versatile with the C.S. compared to more single minded pickups.

that's very nice indeed, some of the other blackmachines look a little dark (in terms of colour) and utilitarian, but i prefer yours (not that there's anything wrong with the others, before i annoy anyone, i just mean in terms of the looks), it's a little brighter-looking. :)
