appetite for destruction...

That's what entered my head when I saw the thread title!

First thing that popped into my head too  .  But in fact after 20-odd years I am starting to get a little sick of it...

To be honest, I could probably name a hundred albums for this thread.  When I really like an album I tend to like all all the tracks, unless there's an absolute stinker that sticks out like a sore thumb.

Having said that, it's quite easy to look at some of the albums people have already mentioned and think of odd tracks I don't like!  :)

Vinyl, or CD..?

I only ask because Gary Moores Wild Frontier album (on vinyl) doesn't have a bad track, whereas the CD has "Crying In The Shadows", possibly the worst GM song ever...

Mark.

Good point, a lot of reissue CDs have those bonus live tracks, demos or B sides.  I suppose they give extra value for money, but sometimes you get to the end of an album where the tracks have all been carefully placed in sequence to create a mood... then bang, suddenly you get hit with a hamfisted cover version of Long Tall Sally or something....

I wouldn't say bonus tracks "count" in terms of spoiling an otherwise perfect album, though.

iced earth- burnt offerings, something wicked this way comes
weezer- blue album
megadeth- peace sells but who's buying
pantera- cowboys from hell, vulgar display of power
ozzy- diary of a madman, blizzard of ozz
jag panzer- ample destruction

Machine Head - The Blackening

really? i've heard two songs by them, both of which i believe is off that album... beautiful mourning (i think) and aesthetics of hate. i really like them but wasn't sure how the rest of the stuff was.

Machine Head - The Blackening
eh?  I didn't think there were any songs on it at all, let alone good ones & certainly not all good ones.

The Blackening reminded me a lot of Dark Angel's "Time does not heal" - lots & lots & LOTS of riffs/ideas, many of them great, but thrown together in fairly disparate fashion to produce a bunch of 7+ minute tracks that kinda blended into one after a while.  JMO, YMMV etc...

Obituary - The End Complete
Rush - Moving Pictures

Once you think about it, it's actually quite difficult to think of an album that has absolutely no duds or fillers.  My first thought was a few Maiden albums, but even in their prime there was at least one less-than-stellar track on every album (i.e. Gangland, Quest for Fire, Losfer Words, Deja Vu).

Sublime - Sublime / 40 Oz. To Freedom
Operation Ivy - Energy
Led Zeppelin - IV
Jimi Hendrix - Blues
Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies
Stiff Little Fingers - Inflammable Material
Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn
Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien
Protest The Hero - Fortress / Kezia

I could probably think of more and some of mine have already been listed!  I'm having a hard time coming up with newer albums though.  There's a lot of new stuff I absolutely love but not the complete album.

I don't think a filler is neccesarily a dud. I often found with some that the fillers between two hit singles are often quite an interesting journey between the two.

Another one I think is Def Leppard - Pyromania. woud like to put Hysteria (I am never in the mood for both Love bites and Rocket at the same time) and Adrenalize (make love like a man), but they are close.

Trying to think of more again

Pet Sounds - Beach Boys

Not a guitar players album really but there's something about those melodies and lyrics that does something funny to me.
I think I hate being indecisive.
