warpigs + nailbombs
« on: November 30, 2008, 02:09:32 PM »
here's something a bit more complicated... an instrumental track based on a couple of my songs.
i had veeery much fun in recording it, but did it quite carelessly, so forget the sloppy soloing! after all i'm no shredder...  8)

guitar and bass sounds made with PODxt (solo sound is the same for both the guitars, so any difference you hear is pickup - and guitar, of course - related)
bass:cort artisan A5
guitars: Ibanez S320 with nailbomb set, Ibanez RGR321EX with warpig set

clean guitar: nailbomb neck
rhythm guitar: warpig bridge
right lead guitar: warpig bridge & neck
left lead guitar (in the final part): nailbomb bridge
solos:
1 (crunchy) - NB N
2 - WP B
3 - NB B
4 - NB B
5 - WP B

in my opinion warpigs stay better in the mix for rhythm and leads, but nailbombs are absolutely great for solos, due to their "wider" and less compressed sound... what do you think?

damn. very good. very cool.

only complaint is that the drums stayed the same throughout the whole song. wasn't too noticeable since you kept changing up the rhythms and such with guitar, but changing up the drums would really make that sound good.

Heh, forgot I was registered here.
Well this just about solves it. Now I just need to figure out if I'll go for the Warpig + nailbomb, or both warpig.

Were you warpig and nailbomb sets calibrated?

yes, they're both calibrated sets. i didn't try mixed sets yet, but in my (still) limited BKP experience i'd say that calibrated sets work perfectly well... i couldn't imagine different pickups to mix in these two guitars...
i love bright neck pickups and thick bridge pickups, and my nailbomb set just blew me away! warpigs are a different story... the fattest sounds you can imagine, and an awesome control of high gain levels. neck pickup sounds obviously darker than the NB, but it's perfectly matched with the bridge pickup sound.
so my advice is GO FOR CALIBRATED!

This reminds me of some Buckethead music for some reason.

This is great stuff! Lovely playing and i like the middle eastern vibe around 02:00. Those nailbombs sound spot on for this kind of instrumental music. Well done, do some more!!  :D
