ESP Ltd EC-1000

I have an opportunity to pick up a new one of these a decent amount less than street price.

Anyone have any experience with this guitar?  It has EMG's in it.  I can always replace the pickups down the road if I dont like or get bored of them with Bareknuckles.  Im still waiting for my Painkillers to come in for my Les Paul, but I still thing I really like the Nailbombs and this would give me something to try those out in.

Any thoughts or comments, quality, tone or otherwise?

Apparently the EC-1000s are pretty good I reckon but that's only from what I hear. I would've bought one, cause their bodies are slimmer than Les Pauls which I thought would suit me. I tried a 200 didn't fit me so meh..

But they're good guitars.

I recently bought an Eclipse, but also tried out several 1000's and they are awesome guitars. The necks are fast and they are very light. A much more modern take on the LP.
Mine has the JB/59 combo in it, which makes easier when it comes time to swap out the pickups. I didn't like the EMG set in the 1000's that I tried at all.
I did notice that on a few of the 1000's I tried and my Eclipse, that they suffer from "loose jack syndrome." A wiggle of the cable and you get a bit of crackle. I don't know if that is a common problem with the ESP's, but it certainly seemed so.
Nontheless, cracking guitars.

They're great guitars if you can stand the abalone. Still not as good as the real deal, but better than what ibanez and Gibson put out for a grand imo.

The abalone is a bit garish and Ltds here are vastly overpriced given you can pick up an ESP Eclipse for couple of hundred more if you shop around. I'd personally spend the extra and get an Eclipse. As for what they're like, despite looking like an LP, they're much thinner and more SG like (perversely the Viper is much more substantial like an LP...). Nice comfy, nice inbetweeny neck. I'm a fan, though I prefer the Viper.

I think ESP are overpriced actually, but for 1000 especially I think they're the only ones that are quite low for their price but I've seen a drastic change in their price and nothing else really.

But ESP you can trust to be good but don't expect it comes cheap.

Which sort of contradicts my whole post.. :?

how much less than street price? they're decent guitars (i've tried the one with duncans), but over here street price is £900 o_O which is retarded.

I got the one with Seymour Duncans in it (replaced now with Black Dogs) for £400 including ESP hardcase on eBay. probably the best buy i've ever made. I love it, it's like a les paul but with all the little annoyances fixed (thinner, lighter, body contour, upper fret access cutaway, 24 frets etc.)

new? if so, that's probably a decent price, but take a look around at other options as stuff is generally a lot cheaper in the USA than here in the UK, just because it sounds like a good price to me doesn't necessarily mean it's a good price where you are... :)

The Sterling is crippling against the Dollar, I wouldn't go for it just yet.

However I'm surprised you haven't seen an uber cheap EC-1000 Dave :o

You need a holiday over to London. Or.. Glasgow.. or.. anywhere out of Northern Ireland.. Yeah, just move actually :P

that black one is awsome.

I seem much more comfortable with 24 frets these days, I do stuggle when I gig the Gibson LP.

Looks like this will go on the list with the SC250, Petrucci and 6505+
