Well, me personally, if I had £2,000 to spend on a guitar right now I would buy a Gibson ES-339.  And get a new amp with the change.

Probably not the answer you're looking for though, it sounds like you're considering something more boo-teeky.

+1

That guitar has been taunting me since it appeared in Guitarist.
Driving in my car, smoking my cigar, the only time i'm happys when i'm playing my guitar!

Gretsch Black Phoenix. Plus some strings and picks to get rid of the change.

I'd definitely go for a Suhr, Tom Anderson or Vigier.

Probably the Vigier. A Shawn Lane model would be ace.
My last FM.
ESP Horizon NTII.
ESP Viper Camo.
ENGL Screamer.

I'd get this and ask for it to be coil tapped:

It's already got 4 conductor wiring on the pickups , so it would just be a wiring chnge

if you are willing to wait 12 months then order an ESP custom on budget otherwise expect to throw in another grand for something special.

For the 2K mark I would be looking to get one built, therefore have maximum input into its birth.
Although lead times beyond a year are no fun I'm getting old :)
However  I agree the Suhr's do look very tempting.

Have to agree there. I do have an irrational urge for a Gretsch White Falcon, tho it would be of little use to me, same with a Ricky 360-12. Would definitely get summat made to order for that dosh methinks.

lets not forget domestic luthiers too. ESP was just an example i gave earlier. If i had that sort of cash now I would definitely try something from Feline or Wez.

I'd just have to choose the Gibson Larry Carlton model 335, but I am somewhat influenced by blatant  idiolatry ( and a love of semi- acoustics )...  8)

In second place would be the Yamaha SA2200 + a pair of colour matched B.K.Ps .

(* Edit * )

I've just seen the current price for the Larry Carlton model . Forget that and go with the Gibson 339 - or Yamaha / Heritage options for a 335 type semi-acoustic.   :)

A few months ago I could almost have imported 2 Jackson KV2s for that.  Now it would barely cover the cost of 1   So my initial answer would be "set it aside until the exchange rate improves".

On the flip side, there are plenty of things Feline could make for me, not to mention other British guitar makers...
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

Save (beg, borrow, steel) an extra 500 for this

http://www.mansons.co.uk/shopping/categories/manson-electric-guitars/manson/custom-t-fuzz-mbk-2-electric-guitar/

Out of your options I would seriously consider a Suhr, my guitar teacher plays them and they always really impress me.

Or I would possibly go for a Gibson Les Paul custom.

Or a Diezel VH4 but thats not even a guitar

Oh I'd better stop now.  PDT_023

I'm happy with Sue's choices, she can buy any of those, frankly my own list is identical when I think about it, except the VH4 would be at the top :)

Oh, and for the record, got a Feline and a Wez, both rock.
Gibson LP std + Nailbomb set
Diezel VH4 & Orange Rockerverb 50
