Either go custom,

Or a Vigier Excalibur Shawn Lane Master http://www.vigierguitars.com/page/fiche_produit.php?id_prod=233 and fit it with some BKPs.

That's the one! :)

... personal opinion coming up guys, but I think that Viger makes UGLY strat copies...

Who says they're strat copies?

Ummm....  Me!

 :)

They definitely follow the strat model, or at least all the Vigier models I've played have.  It's just they I think that the deviation from the body (the less deep cut in the top) makes it look not quite right.

Ugly, even.

Hence, UGLY!

I disagree, I think they look cute, more dinky than a normal superstrat, and a much deeper cutaway with the quirky tailing off.

I Agree, I think they look good.

And it has to be said, they play incredibly well.

Yar, regardless of aesthetics, the contours etc super comfortable, much more comfortable than a typical strat, and they play outrageously well.

Johnny, the Taylor Big Baby retails at about £310.00. I picked one up but it didn't have a price tag on. I loved it but said to my mate that it was probably outside his budget. I was amazed when I saw the price.

I'll try to talk Doug into building a 7 string version of the B6.... ;) Oh, actually, already tried that & will try again when I next speak to him!  :D

Otherwise, well, these guys will build you pretty much anything you can think of: http://www.roterguitars.com/ and these are just art: http://www.sherman-customs.com/

Both of the above fall under 2 grand I think, although tax on the 2nd would be a killer.

Personal taste, I guess.  I played one earlier this year, did absolutely nothing for me.

Vigier's look to have all the tricks that you expect from a good super strat.

I am yet to be convinced that the carbon running through the neck doesn't stifle vibrations in the wood you really want to keep.

carbon fibre running down a neck does not in any way stifle vibrations.    making a fully CF neck does sound different  (but not bad) but vigiers are still mostly wood.

i would miss having a truss rod though!!

My Korina V has two carbon fibre rods running down the neck -  one on either side of the trussrod
As did my Korina Lion

Having pawed over that guitar in person I can say it is something very, very special.

For two grand, I could buy enough wood to practice on and build the electric and acoustic I've been promising myself for god knows how long (as well as some additional tools):

Electric: Les Paul Double Cut/ the new Taylor shape, two HB's and Variax Electronics.

Acoustic: Nice and simple with really nice woods, no electrics or other gubbings.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.
