Johnny, the Taylor Big Baby retails at about £310.00. I picked one up but it didn't have a price tag on. I loved it but said to my mate that it was probably outside his budget. I was amazed when I saw the price.

I had a read of some reviews and it sounds like a great buy for the money.

Roo, that is lovely... is that the Wez build?

I think that you need more pickups, more knobs and thinner strings though...

are the frets fanned?  or is that an optical illusion?

It's got a plain third! How thin do you want!

Hang on, that's a wound third isn't it? Never mind

I'll try to talk Doug into building a 7 string version of the B6.... ;) Oh, actually, already tried that & will try again when I next speak to him!  :D

:?Isn't that just a B7/what your getting anyway?

I have always wanted a custom build and 2 grand would easily get it done.

PRS-ish Style neck and headstock with simple thin offset block fret inlays ala my old jet king, a more agressive jazzmaster inspired zebrawood body (maybe with a very light black oiled finish) loaded with a hot P90 in the neck and seriously good humbucker in the bridge (probably a nailbomb).  All topped off with a 3-way selector switch for some Tom Morello moments.

I love the look of the fanned frets on wezv's beauty, I've never seen that before.
Are there any difficulties / issues with them?

Anyway, if we are talking off the shelf +1 for that jaw-droppingly beautiful Gretch Black Pheonix, I haven't oggled a guitar for that long in ages

Not sure how it would fit in with my style of playing but I could change for something that beautiful!

When I first picked up the guitar at Wez's place, I was so awestruck with the beauty and the feel of the wood that what I started playing, I'd actually forgotten that it was fanned fret. Wez pointed out that it didn't take any getting used to, and I think twigged that it really is a fanned fret!! It feels so natural to play, I really can't stress enough how normal it feels to play a fanned fret guitar, and yet the sound is something else. The bass notes have so much more clarity, and the string tension is great. I don't think I'll ever go back to playing a non fanned-fret guitar again.

Personally with £2k I would look at adding another Tyler to the three I have already got. Owned Suhrs and played plenty of Tom Anderson's but the Tyler has a vibe that for me, elevates it above them.
VHII's, Nailbomb's & Irish Tours :-)
