Pedalboards

I'm sorry - I just don't get it.

Why are pedalboards so expensive?  £150 for a bit of metal (or even plywood) and some velcro?  Come on!

If someone wants to make a killing they should make a limited run and sell them for fifty quid or so - which seems to be all they're worth.  If I was in anyway a practical sort of man, that's what I'd be doing.

... or am I just a tight-wad?

Mark.

I pretty much agree.

I bought Sue a Boss pedal board, only a small one, when she first got a few pedals. It was £90 with a power supply and cables & fittings. In pedal board terms it was a good price I think as it was well designed and flexible. However, £90 for a bit of molded plastic with some foam inside and a power supply seems like a lot in anything other than pedal board terms!

If you can make your own, I'd say do it, unless you gig a lot then you might want to buy a hardcore flight case type deal to protect your gear.

Good quality wood isn't cheap, then there's the covering/corners/handles/labour etc - it soon adds up.  Build it cheaply and it'll fall to bits quickly.  I agree though it seems a lot of cash for something simple, but I can see where the money gets eaten up.

Do what I did, buy a used Diago Gigman for £45  ;)

My TKL pedalboard was about £30 and its been fine for a couple of years (I think) of gigging and regular use, the psu I use is quite cheap and its started to become noisy, though. Bit too large for me though, I wish I got the medium or small version.
