HaH, so many opinions. Thanks guys.  :P
So I e-mailed Tim and he said that a "NB/HD" would be a great combo. So now, what would be the differences between that and a HD/NB combo?
Or even a ColdSweat/NB or ColdSweat/HD combo?

You do need to take into account that a CS bridge isn't the same as a CS neck, all of them have a defined position and in the contemporary range are actually completely different pickups.
I haven't played a Nailbomb, but I have played the other two, and the HD neck is bright, whereas the CS is liquidy and smooth.
The HD bridge is extremely fat and sounds HUGE, CS is similar feel, but ceramic and not as giant feeling. It feels like the standard that ceramic pickups should be judged from really...

So, would you say a Nailbomb bridge has similar lows and mids to a HolyDiver Bridge?
Which would be best for a low/mid emphasized, yet clear high  end legato sound?
Thanks! :D

As I say, haven't played the NB, but the Holydiver has some quite aggressive lower mids, and the highs seem somewhat compressed. Great sound

I installed my set and connected them directly to the output for a test run while i wait for my pots to arrive.
No, they are not as merciless as the EMG. I love the tone of those babies and I wonder now what will happen to it as soon as I start putting pots and caps in the signal.

Now regarding pickup covers, I would say go without them. They are just there for looks and yes they will mute your highs a bit. I was considering covers too but I ended up getting the plain ones.
About your finger tapping, the HD will do the same if you give it the same gain level. I never had such a problem with my 85 in the neck or any other EMG in the neck but I am not so much of a lead player.
Cold Sweat is apparently on the bright side of the scale while the Nailbomb is on the lower mids side.

How odd. Perhaps it was the difference in guitars - the PKs are in my legra, which is designed for clarity and tightness, the last time I played EMGs it was in a VERY dark mahogany yamaha SG.

Cold sweat neck has a really fluid high mid hump, and a fair bit of bass. Its superb for legato and tapping.

i'd go for a nailbomb calibrated set... great legato effect, bright but with powerful bass too, very fluid yet articulated on neck position. and very versatile, it sounds great for metal, rock, blues and whatever you'll like to play with them!
Mule, MQ, Stockholm, CS, RY, MM, PK, ANB, CNB, AWP, CWP, PiG90...

too many? ;)

First off (again), thanks to everyone for your info and input!!!!
So, Mr. dheim, that's the second time I've been recommended the Nailbomb calibrated set.
Now I'm only torn between THREE options... :tfrag:
1.) Cold Sweat/Holy Diver
2.) Cold Sweat/Nailbomb
3.) Nailbomb calibrated set
I mean, damn... I've heard numerous clips of the NBs/HDs/CS's and still find it pretty pointless, seeing as how they will sound completely different on my guitar than anyone else's.
I know they're there for a rough guideline, but DAMN. Toughest decision to make since choosing my guitar.
And coming back to Muhammed Suicmez's tone on Epitaph, (if you haven't heard it, go listen to a solo on youtube or the like if you would be so kind  :D) I'd like to retain a similar tone, yet have cleans like Guthrie Govan.
Again thank you all so much for your help.  :)

I will suggest something crazy at this point but I think it is the best starting point for you.
Just get a calibrated set of Nailboms. See how it suits your sound. If you do not like one of them in either position ask Tim to swap it.

Dang....
So guys, can you offer me any descriptions of the Nailbomb neck and Miracle Man neck?
The reason is, I was thinking of (I know I am so indecisive, HahahaH) of a
Miracle Man(neck)/Holy Diver,(bridge)
but that MM seems like it might sound similar to the CS(neck) with less output.
My question THIS time is....
Which of these two pups' neck versions has has more of a "bubbly" legato sounds IN the neck?
Thanks guys.  :D

the miracle man neck has way more output than the cs neck
it's more compressed and nasal, like a tone zone
very different from the cs neck
the cs neck sounds much more detailed and "piano-like" sounding
I'd pick the cs neck over it any day, but bright or thin guitars might work better with the mm neck
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

Ahhh, thanks man. I am leaning more towards a CS/HD than a NB calibrated set now. HaH.
I'll need to listen to more clips though. :headphones3:

i'm sure you've done this, and it seems fairly obvious, but sometimes it helps to just go back to the beginning and read the pickup's descriptions on the product page. maybe you'll realize one pickup is described as exactly what you want.

So guys, after a while of deliberation and bugging Tim, I had decided to try a Cold Sweat in the neck and Holy Diver in the Bridge.
Took me a while to decide, but my birthday is coming up in January so I suppose it was a good thing.
Thanks to EVERYONE for all your input and advice.  It rattled my brain quite a bit and I haven't been able to touch my guitar for over two weeks now.... (on vacation and a damn great one. :) )
I'll let everyone know how this all pans out when they arrive and when I  get back in shape, physically and ability wise.
HahahaH.

Cheers!  :drink:
