Short answer. It can't usually be done. The point of PDF's is their uneditability.

Long answer. Utilities exist to convert them to more amenable formats. google "PDF to JPeg converter" and roll from there.

I've got acrobat pro here at work and can therefore take it into Illustrator and supply you with a file export of your choice of these from there. The straight Illustrator conversion is excellent therefore I would say the file was created in there to start with.
