Maybe Dave will come charging in and snap it up.

Just toning down the enthusiasm a bit, I mean it's a very pretty guitar and for half the money it would be great. But would it be unfair to say that these Hamers are a bit overpriced compared to other offerings on the market?

Maybe not at 2,200 GBP but surely at their original rate of 4,200 US$

Yeah, I've mentioned it before but Hamer prices have really gone through the roof the last few years.  They've  never had consistent European distribution, which is probably a big part of the problem.

Not so many years ago Sound Control (remember them?  ) bought up all the UK Hamer stock and I got a brand new Special (P-90 version) for £399.  And my Eclipse was only about £600, I think.  Now they'd be 3 or 4 times the price - if you could find them at all.

On the other hand, quality-wise Hamers are in the PRS league, so in comparison maybe £2,000 isn't that much over the top.  It's all relative.

Picking up on what hunter has said, it is alot of money for a guitar, i totally agree. However, it is definitely the best guitar i have played in terms of actual playability, everything seems just right and as Philly says its in the same league as a PRS.

The only reason i am thinking about selling it is because of the brightness of the tone. Does anyone think its worth changing the pickups? I have a set of nailbombs which i could put in...

I thinks depends on how much you're needing the money... If you NEED it, sells... If you can live without the earns from the sell, put the Nailbomb, if you still don't like, sell...

Korina Vee bright? - thats about what I'd expect.  Nailbombs would probably work out fine, but I'd go with some Warpigs personally.

OR, put some Painkillers in and have it as a hot-and-bright metal flamethrower.

Korina V -I've got V2s in mine but would love to try Mules or Stormy Mondays

The Hamers are very nice guitars
I'm building a couple of 58 reissues at the moment

I've had to have the brass tailpieces specially made as the one's you can buy are the wrong angle to meet up with the scratchplate ( it's only a 2 degree difference but makes all the difference)

I'd imagine between a grand and a half and 18 ton would be fair, but whether the market would stick it is another question.
Aye, I wouldn't sell it now. You'd be selling at the 'I just want to get rid of it' price too soon, with the CC and all.

I love Hamers to bits, but unfortunately from my experience they don't retain their value very well. :(

Just picking up on the comparisons to PRS, they are both great brands, but bear in mind that Hamers are made by 6-7 people by hand and PRS are mostly made in a factory using CNC-I'm not saying either way makes a better guitar but that's part of why they are expensive. Hamers wood choice is top shelf too.
The other part is that Kaman music (Hamer/Ovation) was recently bought by FMIC . So expect prices to continue to rise :( !
Used prices have jumped up loads recently(12mths or so), probably thanks in part to FMIC getting the brand some recognition.

Good point, but funnily enough the Hamers I've owned didn't feel any more hand-made than my PRSs.  In fact I'd say they sometimes felt a little soulless, like there was a magic ingredient missing somehow.
